The City of Omaha and the Benson Business Improvement District will hold an informational meeting on the proposed renovation of Maple Street Wednesday, Oct. 29. The event will be held from 6:30 to 7:30pm at the Benson Community Center, 6008 Maple St.
The renovation project, set to begin in the spring of 2015, will include the widening and replacement of all sidewalks, new curbs, new public plazas, traffic calming at several intersections, new landscaping, new benches and new bike racks along Maple Street from 59th to 63rd as well as a special event space along Military Avenue from Maple to Binney streets. The project extends improvements already completed at the east gateway to downtown Benson in 2013.
Information about project phasing and access to properties will be available for review at the meeting. Personnel from the City of Omaha Public Works Department and JEO Consulting Group will discuss the extent of the project and will be available to answer questions and discuss concerns. Forms will be available for the public to document their comments.
